The Public Banking Institute (PBI) is seeking communications-savvy interns for its fall Internship Program.
The internship will be for approximately 10 weeks, or one semester. Available positions include:
Social Media Intern
The ideal intern will have a knack for creating engaging content on Facebook and Twitter that specifically focuses on PBI's goals of financial accountability on Wall Street, and that appeals to audiences in a way that makes them want to like/share/retweet PBI's content.
The intern will be trained on how to produce PBI's weekly e-blasts to its nationwide email list, and be responsible for curating relevant content and photos for the newsletter. In addition, the ideal candidate will work to expand PBI’s media distribution partners, email list, and press book.
Video Production Intern
The ideal candidate will be familiar with video production and will work on a series of short promotional videos for use in PBI’s community outreach, education, and fundraising efforts.
PBI interns can expect to spend 5 - 10 hours a week on their respective projects, including weekly meetings to discuss tasks, strategy, and troubleshooting. This is an UNPAID internship. However, a small monthly stipend will be provided to cover cell phone usage.
The interns will be part of a cohort and will work both with PBI's Communications Coordinator and Chief Operating Officer.
Position requirements include:
-Proficient writing skills
-Comfortable with multiple social media platforms
-Basic knowledge of Photoshop/other image editing software
-Passion for progressive causes and economic justice
-Ability to work under deadline pressure
-Enrolled at least part-time at an accredited college or university
-Must be a junior, senior, or recent graduate
-Two years of newswriting/ newsgathering experience
-Proficient with Adobe Premiere/other video editing software
-Knowledgeable with Constituent Management Software (CMS)
